Episode 8 is the eighth episode of season 1. Episode 8 first aired on July 31, 2012.

SummaryEdit

In a flashback to the 3rd Grade, Mackenzie, Brittnay,and Shay are playing in a sandbox when Rachel walks up and begins talking about The O.C. with them. Mackenzie tries to ask Shay a question, but noticies that she is crying about her missing hair that was shaven off because of her lice. Mackenzie and Rachel try to tell her that it's not that bad, but Brittnay tells them that it awful. Mackenzie asks the girls if they are excited about cheer tryouts and they all agree that Shay is going to be the head cheerleader. Meanwhile, after Tanner beats Matthew in Pokemon, Matthew, in a fit of rage, tries to throw a hacky sack at Tanner, but misses and hits Shay in the head, making her deaf in her right ear. Shay then realizes she won't be able to particiapte in cheer tryouts and Mackenzie is instead named head cheeleader of the Meadow Lane Elementary Mustangs. In present day, Shay is telling Deandra about why she hates Mackenzie Zales. Back in 3rd Grade, Rachel eats a roly poly, causing Brittnay to no longer be her friend.

  • This is the first episode that has a flashback.
  • This is one of the few episodes to reference the Van Burens' lice infestation. In this case, Shay is shown having her head shaved to get rid of the lice.
  • Matthew Derringer is responsible for the rivalry between Shay and Mackenzie, since he hit Shay in the head with a hacky sack, making Shay unable to attend cheer tryouts and let Mackenzie become head cheerleader instead of Shay.
